Yaron Steinbuch

Yaron Steinbuch, assistant metro editor/nights, joined The Journal News in 1987. He has held several positions, including copy editor, night city editor and special editor. His current duties involve editing breaking news and night events, as well as coverage in central and southern Westchester. Yaron, a native of Israel who served in the Israel Defense Forces, lived for several years in Ghana and Italy before moving to the United States in 1981 to study journalism. He is interested in the military and has reported on Fleet Week New York City in 2005 and 2006 for the newspaper.

Covering a crime on deadline

Shortly before 11 p.m. we got word of a double stabbing in Peekskill, but police would not provide night cops reporter Reka Bala with any information. Unfortunately, we were up against our deadline for Putnam and northern Westchester, so it became apparent that we’d miss the print deadline when Reka headed to the crime scene.
