The Town of Carmel Police Benevolent Association has endorsed Thomas J. Jacobellis for a full four-year term as town justice. Jacobellis, a former Putnam County prosecutor, was appointed to the position earlier year when former Town Justice James Reitz was elected as a Putnam County judge. Detective Robert Bagnarol, Carmel PBA president, said that although his organization usually doesn’t endorse canddiates, “there was an overwhemling consensus amongst our membership to endorse Judge Jacobellis. After working with Judge Jacobellis over the last seven months, based on his knowledge of the law, accessibility, fairness and perofessionalism, we felt it was very important for the people of Carmel and Mahopac to know what we have observed on a first-hand basis. For his part, Jacobellis was thrilled. “I am extremely proud and honored to have received the endorsement of the Carmel PBA, he said in a statment relased by his campaign committee. “The men and woman of the Carmel Police are out there every day, working hard to ensure that the Town of Carmel continues to be a safe community for all its citizens, which is a direct reflection of their hard work and dedication.

yeah well i am beginning to think that town judges dont care about innocent or guilty or due process.
I am fuming right now over a traffic court hearing that the officer didnt bother to show for with no call in at all.. and gets a chance to come back. me if i did that would have had my license suspended. now i have to make sure I am in town for the next court date. yeah i know this has nothing to do with this particular blog. but who cares. i needed to get this travesty off my chest. i have to wait another month before i can get my dismissal. i was charged for a violation while obeying traffic law. if i had a lawyer to shut the prosecutor up I would be fine. But i was being extorted. all they wanted was money .. plead guilty and pay a fine. I wasnt guilty of wrong doing so why should i take the deal? I asked teh judge that.. and the prosecutor wouldnt let him answer or look at the case further because it wasnt fair to the officer…
WTF?! what about my rights?!
I’m sure you were given a ticket for no reason, right dumbass?.....because the cops just pulled you over and gave you a ticket for no reason right?
I think you are both losing sight of what the topic was. And by the way name calling (Robert J.)Is a pitiful and insensitive way of just negating an issue. Maybe Steve C. is a little peeved over the fact that he has to return to court etc. The point is stop sticking up for something you know nothing about and taking his issue so personally get the facts Robert j. and worry about yourself; My question is as a new comer to the county who is Jacobellis? Why is he being endorsed? what has he done?
My answer to Michelle’s question: Being a native of this area, I can tell you that Mr. Jacobellis is a very well known, well respected member of the community. He has done much civic and community work in the area. He is a reasonable and patient attorney and a fair judge. But what really makes him stand out from the crowd is the way he interacts with the community. There is not a sole in Mahopac who does not know and like this man.
hey robert j,.
yeah i am a dumbass. I pulled over for an ambulance with sirens blaring and lights flashing. I was the only one to pull over so the trooper gave me a ticket. because it didnt make sense i would be the only one to pull over. so yeah i did something. I obeyed the law.
and yeah i am going back and going back. I am not pleading guilty to a violation when i committed none.
because one person obeying the law didnt make sense to one bored trooper sitting at a work sight. and for a judicial system to let a police officer not show to a trial with impunity but i would have to pay a fine for missing it is ridiculous and unfair. whatever happened to a fair and speedy trial?
Thanks for the information Melissa I will do some more homework on my own before going to the ballot.
Steve, good for you keep up the fight.
Michele: Thanx , if you dont stand up for your principles who will?
Steve thats a problem for some people in this society; they attack the victim and they think by doing that it will fix the problem and it will go away. (crazy huh)
I guess its me but where does Jacobellis stand on the death penalty and gun laws etc.? I’m too new & cant find tangible information to sink my teeth into. Does he lean right/left what?
I guess you can go to local offices and online and ask The journal news what they know.
