Rockland law enforcement will honor those officers who died in the line of duty during a 11 a.m. Sunday ceremony at the granite memorial in front of the County Courthouse in New City.
There are 27 names on the “Rockland monument”:http://www.policememorial.com/. Other ceremonies will be held at “national memorial”:http://www.nleomf.com/ in Washington, DC.

At 9:30 a.m. Sunday, the Clarkstown Police Department will hold its annual awards ceremony at 20 Maple Ave., New City.

Along with remembering those officers killed, Rockland Police Chiefs Association will honor officers for their work protecting the public in 2006. The association will hold a ceremony from 11 a..m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Rockland Fire Training Center, 35 Fire Memorial Drive, Ramapo, off Route 45.

The police chiefs will honor the following officers:

Patrol Excellence-Excellent Police Duty: Haverstraw Police Sgt. Ian Kaye, Officers Frank Malin, Robert Stuart; Spring Valley Police Officers Rony Charles, John Kelly, Curtis Cummings, Chris Korba, Charles Schnaars; Clarkstown Police Officers Paul Munding, Ray Laschet.

Patrol Excellence-Felony Vehicular Stop: New York State Troopers Seamus Lyons, James Foley; Deputy U.S. Marshal Sean McCluskey.

Patrol Excellence-Life Saving Award: Troopers Seamus Lyons and John Nally, Spring Valley Police Officer Lech Rosenbaum.

Patrol Excellence-Patrol Investigative: Orangetown Police Officer Richard Kopenuk.

Patrol Excellence Act of Valor: Clarkstown Police Lt. Glenn Dietrich. Sgt. Nicholas Lafasciano, Sgt. Stephen Chernick, Detectives John Fredricks, Eileen Malloy, Officer Paul Munding, Officer Terrance McCrudden, Officer Michael Ruszkowski, Officer
Joseph Knarich and Robert Reilly; Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Michael Mondelli and Officer Omar Munoz; and Ramapo Police Officer Patrick Gray.

Investigative Excellence-Violent Crime: Spring Valley Detective Roxanne Lopez. Clarkstown Detective Sgt. Tim O’Neill, Clarkstown Detectives Frank Romano, Daniel Alvarado, Lorraine McGrath.

Investigative Excellence-Crimes Against Children: Ramapo Detective Thomas Dolan.

Investigative Excellence Organized Crime: Clarkstown Police Detective Robert Shine, FBI Agent Maryann Goldman, District Attorney’s Office Detectives William P. Michella and Christopher Goldrick, Spring Valley Detective Kevin Freeman, Orangetown Detective Matthew Ryder, Clarkstown Officer John Hanchar, Investigators Robert Fitzgerald and Timothy Hodges.

Investigative Excellence-Drug Crime Matters: Spring Valley Sgt. Dan McWilliams and officers John Beltempo and James Noble

Specialized Excellence Homeland Security: New York State Police Capt. Michael Cahill.

Specialized Excellence Special Operations: Spring Valley Police Department Tactical Team.

Specialized Excellence, Forensic Science: State Police Investigator Brendan Tumulty.

Specialized Excellence, Unit Achievement: Spring Valley Police Crime Suppression Team.

    This is all a stroke job! When officers need to write themselves up for awards, it turns what should be legit into a joke.
