Some police assignments have perks.
On Tuesday night, two of Clarkstown’s finest got to mingle with a movie star and her fans.
Close to 1,000 young people stood in line at the Palisades Center’s fourth-floor to get a glimpse and possibly an autograph from Disney starlet “Ashley Tisdale”:www.ashleytisdale.com/.
For those older than 15, Ms. Tisdale starred in the Disney channel’s megahit “High School Musical” and appears regularly on the Disney channel show, “Suite Life of Zack and Cody.”
Two Clarkstown officers pulling overtime working the detail were Administrative Sgt. Harry Baumann and Detective Gerry King. They were working with mall security guards and Tisdale’s own security team as part of a promotion for FYE record store to hawk Ms. Tisdale’s music.
Apparently, the youngsters (probably their parents) bought a CD, with hopes of getting Tisdale to sign the cover jacket. No word on how many got autographs.
Showing up and moving to the ahead of the line was actor Stephen Baldwin of the Nyacks. Baldwin supposedly wanted his two daughters to meet Ms. Tisdale. Instead, Baldwain brought 15 kids, who all cut the line and got to met Ms. Tisdale, who was greeting the winners of Z-100 radion station contest.
Baldwin also signed his own photos for the staff as part of the quid-pro-quo.
Ah, to be a star.
No reports of rioting or even much pushing, shoving or teasing.
